Lenovo has launched the latest addition to its Moto Z-series smartphones, the Moto Z2 Play starting from Rs 27,999 in India on Thursday. The India release of the device comes just a week after the Moto Z2’s global release and will be shipping to consumers from June 15.
The Moto Z Play was praised for the stellar battery life it offered while not compromising on the features. Like its predecessor, the Moto Z2 Play will feature the magnetic connectors for the company’s Moto Mods, showing Lenovo and Moto’s commitment to the modular design philosophy it introduced with the Moto Z and Moto Z Force.
The Moto Z2 Play will feature a 5.5 inch Full HD Super AMOLED with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 display and will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 626 octa-core processor with an option of either a 3GB, 32GB storage or 4GB, 64GB storage along with expandable storage. The smartphone will also feature a 12 megapixel rear camera and a 5 megapixel front camera. A dual-LED flash is present on both sides of the phone.
Interestingly, the Moto Z2 Play will be powered by a 3000mAh battery, a downgrade from the Moto Z Play’s stellar 3510mAh battery. Lenovo, however, still promises that the new device will achieve nearly the same battery performance of its predecessor. Lenovo has also launched new Moto Mods with the notable launches being the Turbo Power Pack mod and the JBL SoundBoost2 mod. The Turbo Power Pack Moto Mod will allow users to snap on a 3490mAh battery to the back of the Moto Z-series phones. The JBL SoundBoost2 mod improves upon the previous JBL Moto Mod and will be offered in black, red, and blue colour options. Lenovo has also announced the Moto GamePad, which turns any Moto Z-series smartphone into a handheld gaming device.
