SC gives liquor manufacturers permission to export old stocks

The Supreme Court modified its order to allow the liquor manufacturers to export their old stocks worth Rs 200 Crore outside Bihar till 31st July.

The order was given by the bench headed by Ashok Bhushan and Deepak Gupta on Thursday. The decision was taken after a plea made by the manufacturers on the May 29th order which said that its time to destroy the stock but there was no mention of ‘export’.

After a brief hearing, the court said: “sufficient grounds have been made out to allow the application” in the favor of the manufacturers.

The Bihar government which has prohibited sale and consumption of liquor in the state had passed a resolution to which allows companies to export their old stocks out of the state.
