Thirst quenched, play spoilt in Cape Town; Rain washes out 3rd day’s play

Date:

The talks of area surrounding Cape Town and other region in the country being hit by drought went around the world before the first India-South Africa Test started. It even spread that India cricket players were suggested to take 2-minute shower to conserve the rain water.

Amidst all these there were two different feelings throughout the world—One that rain should not hamper the game and the other that rain should appear to ease the environment in the area. Lord heard both the prayers. While fans were greeted with some sensational stuffs, that keep the Test cricket alive, on first two days the third day belonged to people in dire need of rain.

As rain washed out the entire day’s play at Cape Town in the first Test first match between India and South Africa, the things have become more interesting. There are still chances that the game might end in a result and given the performance on first two days, those chances are still high. But another rain-hit day might ruin the fun of such an anticipated series between the two best teams in the world.

As play was called off for the day, without a single delivery being bowled, the two days left in the game is supposed to feature 196 overs, only if the over rates are maintained and Lord Indra doesn’t smile during the course of game.

When the game continues, it will at some point of time, Kagiso Rabada and Hashim Amla would resume South Africa’s second innings from 65/2 in pursuit of setting India a target that the hosts can defend. While Hardik Pandya would be eager to continue his dream debut in the African continent, other Indians must be hoping to improve.

With South Africa leading by 142 runs and still having eight wickets in hand, India will have to produce a sublime bowling effort coupled with exceptional batting stuff, which has been the cause of worry more often than not in South Africa, if they have to get a great start to the 3-match Test series.
