Brought to sense: Man hit by train while taking selfie, injured

Date:

Taking selfies seems the latest addiction and people are ready to go to any extent for it. Every now and then there are reports of people getting injured or getting involved in some or the other mishap but such incidents hardly seem to abate.

In a similar incident in Hyderabad, a speeding train brought an insensible selfie-addicted man to sense.

The young man, aiming for a daring selfie with a speeding train, ended up in hospital on Monday after getting hit, in a disturbing video that has gone viral.

The youth, identified as Shiva alias Subhash, sustained serious head injuries after he was struck by a Hyderabad Multi-Modal Transport System (MMTS) train on Sunday.

In the video clip that emerged on Wednesday, he was seen smiling at his smartphone camera and kept his right arm pointed at the approaching MMTS or Multi-Modal Transport System train. Someone was heard warning him but he was determined to achieve his dramatic shot. The train’s whistle got louder and those watching the video sensed the danger, but Shiva looked oblivious.

Suddenly, he was hit and the image went blank after a loud sound. The audio, still on, indicated a commotion as people realised what happened and rushed towards the wounded man.

Shiva appeared to have misjudged the impact of the train’s speed and the wind.

Here is the video clip-

Reckless selfie-taking has caused many deaths in India in recent months. Posing with a train is the most popular and perhaps, the most dangerous stunt of them all.

In 2016, the Mumbai police marked more than a dozen “no-selfie zones” after three young girls drowned in the Arabian Sea while taking selfies.
