Manipur boy builds robot from junked parts

It is often said that child is the father of man and it is true. While countries and private organizations spend millions of dollars on building robotic technology, Abhinandan Das from Manipur who is a student of VIth standard has made a robot using trash materials.

A student of Mega Manipur School, Yaralpat has made a robot using discarded electronic items, syringes, empty Horlicks bottles, LED lamp and mobile phone parts.

The 11-years-old, a resident of Thingnam Leikai, Imphal West, said he was inspired to make the robot after watching a similar television program.

He has named the robot, Meganand – 18. The name hides an interesting meaning. The name, Meganand – 18 is made up of, ‘Mega’ for Mega Manipur School and ‘Anand’ for Abhinandan and 18 is fro 2018.

It took him almost 20 days to create the robot. He did it completely on his own without taking any professional help.

Abhinandan claims that the robot can even hold a glass of water.

The machine has been created using a hydraulic system by IV pipes for the movement of his arms.
