Can you guess how much was Aamir Khan paid for his first Bollywood film?

Date:

The 80’s blockbuster film ‘Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak’ (1988), which marked Aamir Khan’s Bollywood debut, completed 30 years recently. At a press meet, the actor shared many anecdotes from ‘Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak’. Talking about his 30 years in Bollywood Aamir said, ”It really feels like yesterday. It just doesn’t feel like 30 years have passed. Time has that quality; it passes like a flash.”

Aamir, who has been reaching new heights of success with each release, had received a remuneration of merely Rs 11,000 for ‘Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak’. The actor said, ‘I earned Rs 11,000 for ‘Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak’.

“After ‘Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak’, my first commercial hit, though I had a successful film, did not have money to buy a car. I used to use public transport until I started getting mobbed by people who recognized me in public,” he added. During the media interaction, Aamir Khan also revealed that he was offered late Sunil Dutt’s role in Rajkumar Hirani’s next film ‘Sanju’. He declined the offer as he wanted to play Sanjay Dutt’s role in ‘Sanju’.

”Dutt Sahab’s role is a fabulous role. There is so much about Sanju’s relationship with his father, but Sanju’s role is unbelievable. I told Raju that role had won my heart. In this film, I can’t do any other role apart from Sanjay Dutt’s, which I can’t do because Ranbir is doing it. So don’t offer me any other role. I can’t come to a set thinking and be looking at Ranbir and be like, hmmm.. these should be my lines”, Aamir said.

Aamir, who shared a strong bond with Sunil Dutt, reminisced about some good old memories of the late legendary actor. Aamir said, “He always sent me telegrams in those days to wish me on Diwali, Eid, birthday… If my film did well, he sent me congratulations note.”

Aamir further added that he is eagerly waiting for ‘Sanju’. Notably, Aamir Khan has worked closely with Rajkumar Hirani in films like ‘3 Idiots’ and ‘PK’.

Meanwhile, Aamir Khan is currently shooting for ‘Thugs of Hindostan’ which also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Katrina Kaif, and Fatima Sana Shaikh. The Vijay Krishna Acharya directed a film, which is based on Philip Meadows Taylor’s 1839 novel ‘Confessions of a Thug’, is set to release this Diwali.
