RaGa breaks silence over “Congress is a party for Muslims” remark

Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday broke his silence on the controversy surrounding his comment “Congress is a party for Muslims.” Without confirming or denying his comment, Gandhi said that the religion and caste of people does not matter to him and he stands for the marginalised.

The controversy erupted when a Urdu Daily reported that Rahul Gandhi’s said “Congress is a party for Muslims” during an interaction with Muslim intellectuals. The editor of the newspaper later stood by his report and told Republic TV, a national news channel, that the Rahul Gandhi’s statement was recorded.

In the meanwhile, the Prime Minister made a pointed attack on Gandhi’s comment asking that is “Congress a party for Muslim men only?”
