Eating after 10 PM can increase risk of prostate, breast cancer

What time do you usually have your last meal of the day? Do you know, that your meal timings affect your health adversely? The best time to eat dinner as per reports and proven studies is before 9 PM or at least two hours before going to bed.

Those who eat their dinner late are more prone to life-threatening diseases such as prostate cancer or breast cancer. Those who eat early, comparatively live a healthier life and the risk of cancer is reduced at least by 20 per cent if not more.

A study was conducted by the Barcelona Institute of Global Health in Spain covering the meal timings, sleeping habits and the chronotype of the participants on an individual level.

A questionnaire was also distributed to the participants that had questions on their eating patterns and habits and the reports suggested cancer patients to succumb more to late dinner timings.

The most common forms of cancer found in patients in relation to late eating habits are prostate and breast cancers. The diseases were highly prevalent among late-shift workers and those who generally eat their dinner late. Once the results are confirmed, further prevention measures will be suggested that as of now do not include meal timings.
