3. The ‘Shwetambari’ lehenga

As destination weddings become more and more popular, the lighting and photography for a wedding change dramatically. Earlier, our weddings were restricted to hotels, reception halls and farmhouses. Most of these weddings used to take place in the evening and the light source used to be halogen, tungsten or speed lights. So there was a natural affinity for darker colours and richer tones. Because of destination weddings, all these ceremonies have started taking place outdoors in natural light. And hence, there has been a strategic shift to lighter colours and pastels. The ‘Shwetambari’ lehenga takes its inspiration from fading marble courtyards, gathering moss and inlays of uncut diamonds, jade and rose-quartz. An exuberant necklace in Russian emeralds and uncut diamonds sets the mood for vintage glamour with Mughal undertones. One of the gentlemen wears a printed khadi angrakha with a silk Nehru jacket while the other sports a structured sherwani in quilted Murshidabad silk.
