Umar Khalid attacked at Constitution Club; escapes unhurt

New Delhi: An unidentified man allegedly opened fire at JNU student activist Umar Khalid outside Constitution Club of India in New Delhi on Monday.

Reportedly, two men approached Khalid and one of them had a pistol.

According to initial reports, the duo fled the scene while Khalid is unhurt. A pistol was recovered from the spot.

“A man in white shirt came, pushed and opened fire at him. Khalid lost his balance, fell down and the bullet missed him,” claimed an eyewitness.

As per the Delhi Police, no shots were fired at the Constitutional Club. An inquiry into the matter is on.

Khalid was at the Club to participate in an event called ‘Towards A Freedom Without Fear’, scheduled to begin at 2:30 pm.
