2019 will see a repeat of 1996, says Kumaraswamy after meeting Naidu

Date:

Taking a step forward to unite the opposition, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister  N Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday met Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy and former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda in Bengaluru.

The meeting came just days after JD(S) -Congress coalition secured a huge win of 4-1 in Karnataka by-polls.

Following an hour-long meeting, HD Kumaraswamy expressed his confidence over victory in the Lok Sabha polls. “I think 1996 will be repeated in 2019 elections,” he said.

Talking about the importance of united opposition, TDP supremo said, “It is essential that the opposition unite to save democracy at a time when national institutions such as the Reserve Bank of India and the Central Bureau of Investigation have been compromised.”

“NDA rule under the leadership of PM Modi has created so many problems including destabalising constitutionally created institutes. Now, it is the responsibility of all secular parties including Congress to come together to replace NDA govt,” said former Prime MinisterDeve Gowda.

Naidu last week met Congress Chief Rahul Gandhi in Delhi. The leader, recently, also met NCP head Sharad Pawar and National Conference president Farooq Abdullah, among others.
