Anti-Obesity Day (AOD) is observed in various parts of the world on November 26, with several healthcare organizations marking the day with activities to highlight how obesity is a public health hazard.
Obesity is one of the most prominent non-communicable diseases that is killing people. Especially in countries like India with a low rate of awareness.

- According to the statistics, worldwide obesity has nearly tripled since 1975.
- In 2016, more than 1.9 billion adults, 18 years and older, were overweight. Of these over 650 million were obese.
- Apart from childhood obesity, the rate of obesity among adults- above the age of 18- has also risen by 39% in the year 2016, and 13% were obese.
- About 41 million children under the age of 5 were overweight or obese in 2016.
- Over 340 million children and adolescents aged 5-19 were overweight or obese in 2016.
