This video of ‘rotten eggs hatching due to heat’ is not from Saudi Arabia

Date:

A video has been doing rounds on WhatsApp and other social media claiming the ‘unsold old eggs’ that were thrown in the dump, hatched, due to the scorching heat.

The video claims to be of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The caption reads-  ‘In Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, they had dumped huge lot of expired or unsold old eggs in an open dust bin. Due to the heat around, the eggs got hatched and thousands of hatched tiny chicken started crawling all over. Who can stop God’s will, to deny life in his creation. The world may dump you in a rubbish bin but it’s not over until God says it’s over!

Fact Check

Upon researching, NewMobile found a report by Daily Mail dated 11 June 2018. According to the report, a poultry farm threw the ‘rotten egg’ in a landfill site and about a week later the eggs hatched due to summer heat.

The report also states that the incident took place in Marneuli, Georgia and not in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Prior to this, the same video went viral in July- August claiming to be from Oman.

‘Ministry of Oman caught expired eggs from various super markets and dumped them in desert . Now see what happened,’ the caption read.
