Date:

Boeing 737 MAX 8 has come under scanner after 737 MAX operated by Ethiopian Airlines crashed on Sunday claiming lives of 157 passengers and crew members.

This was the second time in less than six months when a Boeing 737 MAX 8 crashed minutes after takeoff and killed everyone on board. In October 2018, a Boeing 737 crashed in Indonesia in which 189 people lost their lives.

In India, Jet Airways and SpiceJet operate Boeing 737 MAX aircraft.  According to reports, The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) will seek information from the two airlines in regards to the aircraft.

In the wake of the two crashes, China’s civilian aviation authority orders all Chinese airlines to ground Boeing 737 Max 8 planes. The airlines had until 6:00 pm local time (1000 GMT) to ground the mentioned aircraft.

Operation of the model will only resume after “confirming the relevant measures to effectively ensure flight safety”, the administration said in a statement.

The aviation authority will contact the US Federal Aviation Administration and Boeing, the statement added.
