Norway has become the first place in Europe to have its first underwater restaurant. The restaurant is called ‘Under’, which means the restaurant is underwater but also the word means ‘wonder’ in Norwegian. The restaurant has a huge amount of sea life.
It also has the record for being the largest underwater restaurant in the world. The size of the restaurant is around 112 feet (34 meters) long and the entrance is above the sea. The visitors have to walk down merely 40 odd steps to reach a lower level.
The restaurant is jointly owned by two brothers from Norway, who also own another hotel. They have made this the main attraction so people come and visit it from all over the world with an estimated footfall of about 12000 people a year. So far the plan has worked as over 7,000 people have booked to eat at the restaurant and it is full till October this year.

The restaurant plans to serve a huge array of seafood as well as, meat, and other dishes from the local area. They also plan to work with scientists who will study the ocean and make it a point that any sea creatures are not at risk of the new environment. The cheapest meal is estimated to cost a whopping $260.
The restaurant was built in an interesting way as it is above the water as a hollow concrete tube with windows. It was then lowered into the sea. The restaurant filled with water as it was put in position and attached to a huge piece of concrete below the sea.
The people who created the restaurant hope that it will become like a natural part of the sea over time, with sea animals and plants attaching themselves to it.
