New Delhi: In a big blow to the BJP and BSP, the Election Commission on Monday barred Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and former UP CM Mayawati from campaigning for the ongoing 2019 Lok Sabha polls for 72 hours and 48 hours respectively.
The move came in after the Supreme Court pulled up the Election Commission, asking if it was aware of its powers to make errant political leaders fall in line.

Reportedly, Yogi Adityanath and Mayawati cannot address any public meeting, campaigns or address the media during their respective ban term.
Yogi Adityanath came into limelight after his ‘Modi ji ki sena’ comment.
“The Congress people used to serve terrorists biryani, but Modi ji’s Sena (Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s army) gives them only bullets and bombs,” he had said at a rally in Ghaziabad.
