Air India: Flights delayed after server crashes; system restored, passengers’ ordeal continues

Air India’s flight operation halted on Saturday morning after the airline suffered a major server crash leaving passengers stranded at airports across the globe. According to reports, as many as 119 flights were cancelled due to glitch. 

The airline said that its SITA server was down all over India & overseas since 3:30 am but has now been restored.

CMD Air India Ashwani Lohani says, “Air India System restored”.

“Between 3:30 to 4:30 am today, passenger services system of Air India that is run by SITA was taken for maintenance & after that, it remained down till 8:45 am, it has just come back. System restored. During the day we will see consequential delays, ” he added.

Earlier, Air India’s spokesperson said that technical team were looking into the problem and inconvenience is deeply regretted. ” SITA server is down. Due to which flight operation is affected. Our technical teams are on work and soon system may be recovered. Inconvenience is deeply regretted,” he said.

In June 2018, Air India’s 25 flights were delayed due to a technical glitch in the airline’s check-in software.

The stranded passengers took to social media to share their ordeal.
