More than 20 flights delayed at Kolkata airport due to server glitch

Date:

More than 20 flights have been delayed at the Kolkata airport after the internet servers inside the airport crashed, sources said. The trouble started around 5.15 pm, after which all airlines started issuing boarding pass manually. Airport authorities say the IT team is working on the issue. But it involves manual restoration, which is taking time.

“The Internet server has been down since 5.30 pm and it is likely to start working from 10.30 pm. Around 25 flights have been delayed in between 5.30 pm and 9 pm by an average time of 20-25 minutes,” an official of the AAI was quoted as saying by news agency Press Trust of India.

The Airport Authority of India or AAI owns and manages more than 100 airports – including Kolkata’s Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport – across the country.

In April, thousands of passengers flying Air India and its subsidiaries got stranded after a technical glitch in its servers, which held up check-in, reservation and baggage handling systems for over five hours.
