Did Salman Rushdie say ‘99% Muslims are terrorists by thought’? here’s the truth

A quote attributed to noted writer Salman Rushdie has been making rounds on social media according to which he had said: “Be they Pakistani or Indian, illiterate or educated, poor or rich, 99% Muslims are terrorists by thought, even if they make a show of brotherhood.”

The text in Hindi read: “मुसलमान चाहे पाकिस्तानी हो या भारतीय, अनपढ़ हो या सुशिक्षित, गरीब हो या अमीर 99% मुसलमान सोच से कट्टर आतंकवादी ही होते हैं, चाहे वह भाईचारे का कितना ही दिखावा करे।”

When NewsMobile fact-checked the above claim, we found that Salman Rushdie never said what has been claimed.

We scanned Rushdie’s verified Twitter handle and found a tweet dated March 7th, 2015 in which he clarified that the quote attributed to him is FAKE.
