Today in Parliament, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman tabled the Economic Survey (2018-19) in both Houses of Parliament.
The Survey projected the GDP growth for 2019-20 at 7 per cent, up from 6.8 per cent in the previous fiscal. The fiscal deficit estimate for 2018-19 has been retained at 3.4 per cent of the GDP, same as projected in the interim Budget.
The Survey is prepared by Chief Economic Advisor Krishnamurthy Subramanian that highlights the challenges in the country and point to possible solutions. He said the Survey makes a concerted effort for India to become a $5 trillion economy by 2025.

2. The Economic Survey projected that to become a $5 trillion economy by 2025, India needs to sustain a GDP growth rate of 8 per cent.

Besides this, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Union Budget on Friday.
The ongoing Monsoon Session, which began on June 17, will continue till July 26. The first session of Lok Sabha will provide 30 sittings spread over 40 days in Lok Sabha and 27 sittings spread over 37 days sittings in the Rajya Sabha.
