Woman breastfeeding her baby in the parliament is not the Australian Prime Minister

A picture is making rounds on social media in which a woman can be seen breastfeeding her baby while delivering a speech. It has been claimed that the woman in the picture is the Australian Prime Minister.

The caption with the picture read: “Australian Prime Minister breastfeeding her baby while delivering a speech in Parliament.”

 

At the time of filing this report, the above post was shared by over 6,000 Facebook users.

FACT CHECK

On fact-checking the above post, we found that the woman in the picture is not the Australian Prime Minister.

When we put the picture through Reverse Image Search, we came across several news articles which had used the same picture confirming that the woman in the picture is an Australian senator.

The picture is from June 2017, when Australian senator, Larissa Waters, addressed Parliament while breastfeeding her baby.

Hence, the above information proves that the claim attached to the picture is FALSE.
