Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal launches free medical aid scheme for road accident victims

Date:

The Aam Aadmi Party-led Delhi government on Monday launched a scheme under which those affected by road accidents will be provided free medical treatment in hospitals of the city.

The scheme, Farishtey Dilli Ke, was launched by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Under the scheme, the Delhi government will bear the costs of treatment for all road accident victims regardless of how expensive the treatment or hospital is.

“Those who immediately take a victim to the nearest hospital are the Farishtey Dilli Ke,” he said.

Launching the new scheme, Kejriwal assured that victims don’t have to pay for any treatment and neither will samaritans be harassed by the police afterwards.

“I want every citizen of Delhi to become a farishta (angel). You should pledge to help accident victims, burn victims and acid attack victims and take them to hospitals,” he said.

He also presented certificates to recognise the Samaritans.

Earlier on Saturday, he launched a campaign to make Delhi pothole-free which will be undertaken by the Public Works Department under his government.
