India issues travel advisory for Iraq

The Ministry of External Affairs on Thursday issued a travel advisory for Iraq in view of the prevailing and escalating tensions in the region.

The advisory warned against all non essential travel to Iraq and also asked Indian nationals within Iraq not to travel across the country.

It has also been mentioned that the Embassy of India in Baghdad and the Consulate General of India at Erbil are functioning normally and providing all services to Indians residing in Iraq.

This warning has been issued following the escalating tensions between Iran and the US, following mutual strikes on each other’s military facilities after the killing of Major General Qaseem Soleimani, the head of the Quds force, an elite special force unit within the Iranian Revolutionary Guards.
