Fact Check: This picture of woman holding an injured child is NOT from Shaheen Bagh

A picture of a woman holding an injured child is being shared online with a claim that the picture is from Shaheen Bagh.

“Brutality at its peak. Where #RangaBilla taking this nation to?
#ShaheenBagh #CAA_NRC_Protest” – the caption read.

At the time of filing the report, the above post had around 17,000 shares on Facebook.

FACT CHECK 

NewsMobile fact-checked the above picture and found the claim to be FAKE.

On putting the image through Reverse Image Search, we found a tweet dated November 14, 2019, and according to the caption, the picture is from Khanpur, Pakistan and the injuries were caused by dog bites.

Further investigation led us to a news report that states that 27 people were injured within 3 hours after being bitten by a rabid dog in the Khanpur area in November.

Another article by Pak TV, featuring the above image, also talked about the attack and the lack of effort from the authorities to prevent such attacks.

NewsMobile couldn’t independently verify the origin of the picture, however, the above information proves that the viral picture is NOT from India.
