Key points from the Health Ministry daily briefing on COVID-19

Community transmission phase of COVID1-19 will start if the people and the government don’t follow guidelines and work collectively, the Health Ministry said in its daily briefing on Thursday.


Here are the key point points from today’s briefing:

  • Social distancing can play a key role in breaking the chain of coronavirus transmission, said Lav Agarwal, Joint Secretary in Health Ministry.

 

  • 42 fresh coronavirus cases and four deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours. The total number of cases stands at 649.

 

  • 17 states have started work on earmarking hospitals for dedicated treatment of COVID-19 patients.

 

  • While the numbers of COVID-19 cases are increasing, the rate at which they are increasing appears to be relatively stabilizing. However, this is only the initial trend.

 

  • The manner in which the situation is evolving, we cannot take anything lightly as yet.

 

  • Community transmission will not happen in India if we follow social distancing and treatment properly.

 

  • COVID-19 does not spread through mosquitoes: Health Ministry clarified

 

  • We are training ASHA and Aganwadi workers to educated people regarding coronavirus outbreak: Lav Aggarwal

 

  •  “Government is taking steps to ensure that production, supply or distribution of essential goods & services do not get affected during Coronavirus lockdown. States are working to provide food & shelter to migrant workers,” Punya Slila Srivastava, Joint Secretary, MHA said.
