COVID-19: Death toll could reach 70k mark, says Trump as he rules out changing November Prez polls schedule

Date:

US President Donald Trump on Monday defended his administration’s strategy of dealing with the deadly Coronavirus and also ruled out postponing the scheduled Presidential elections which are due to take place in November.

When asked by a reporter that when more lives are being lost due to a virus than the Vietnam war, whether Trump expects to be re-elected after this fiasco, the President said, “But if you look at what original projections were-2.2 million- we’re probably heading to 60,000-70,000. It’s far too many. One person is too many for this. And I think we have made a lot of really good decisions. The big decision was closing the border or doing the ban, people coming in from China.”

Trump also spoke strongly against suggestions to postpone the US Presidential elections due on November 3.

He said: “I never even thought of changing the date of the election. Why would I do that? November 3 is a good number”.

He also blasted Democrat Presidential hopeful Joe Biden and said that he has no merit in this campaign and may seek to postpone these elections.
