Date:

post that is being widely shared on social media, shows a tweet by the President of the United States of America, Donald Trump.

The tweet in the post reads this: ‘American shops want to open! Hair needs cutting. Demokraps don’t want to bite the bullet but that’s the price we have to pay. Some oldies will have to die. We’re in God’s hands, folks! Liberate America’

FACT CHECK

When NewsMobile checked the authenticity of the post, we found it to be FAKE.

We started our investigation by checking all the tweets made by Prez Trump on May 8, on his official Twitter account (@realDonaldTrump). We found that Trump had not published the tweet in question.

Further, we googled the phrase ‘Oldies will have to die’ and found an article that was posted by the website Patheos, featuring the viral tweet.

However, when we checked the ‘About us’ section, we found a disclaimer. “The story you were reading is satirical,” it read.

It further added, “The use of humour, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule to expose and criticize people’s stupidity or vices, particularly in the context of contemporary politics and other topical issues.”

Hence, our investigation proves that the report featuring the tweet is fictional and holds no validity.
