US Backs Japan Over Release Of Contaminated Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant Water Into The Sea

Date:

The United States on Monday extended support to coordinate with Japan in release of contaminated water from the wrecked Fukushima atomic power plant into the sea.

Ned Price, US Department of State spokesperson said, “The United States is aware that the Government of Japan has examined several options regarding the management of the treated water stored at the Fukushima Daiichi site. In this unique and challenging situation, Japan has weighed the options and effects, has been transparent about its decisions, and appears to have adopted an approach in accordance with the globally accepted nuclear safety standard.”

Japan, in close coordination with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), has taken measures such as radiation monitoring, remediation, waste management and decommissioning added the US State Department.

Japan announced its measure of Basic Policy Handling of Advanced Liquid Processing System by discharging the treated water into the sea

Since the accident triggered after the earthquake of 2011, Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant has been generating massive amounts of radiation-water as it needs water to cool the reactors.
