A post about cure for COVID-19 is being shared on social media with a claim that a former student from Mumbai’s St. Xavier High School has found a home remedy using pepper powder, honey and ginger which can cure coronavirus. It further claims that it has been accepted by World Health Organization (WHO).

The Facebook caption read, “Good News Finally, CAJY VAZ, an Indian EX Student from St. Xavier’s High School from Mumbai, presently based in Goa, found a home remedy for *Covid 19*, which was approved by the WOH for the first time. FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the above post and found it to be false and misleading.

With the help of keywords search, we found an article by WHO claiming that black pepper, honey, ginger or any other home remedy cannot cure coronavirus.

Moreover, we found some guidelines of Ayurveda’s immunity-boosting measures for self-care during the COVID-19 crisis by the Ministry of Ayush. The guidelines claimed that the usage of black pepper, ginger or honey is only for immunity boosting and not for cure.

As of 18 February 2021, WHO approved seven different vaccines in different countries. But, WHO has categorically stated that COVID-19 can be prevented but there is no evidence that it can be cured by any home remedies.

Hence, with the help of the above information, it can be clearly stated that WHO has not approved any home remedy found by this ex-student from Mumbai.

We have earlier done a similar fact check in which it was claimed that a student from Pondicherry University has found a home remedy for COVID-19 which has been accepted by World Health Organization (WHO).
