India will take over as Chair of the Counter-Terrorism Committee in 2022 at the United Nations. As Chair, India will make determined efforts to further enhance its role in strengthening the multilateral response to counter-terrorism.
The new Chair of the Counter-Terrorism Committee for 2022 is T S Tirumurti, India’s Permanent Representative and Ambassador at the United Nations, New York, it was announced in a tweet by India at UN, NY.
The UN CTC, comprising all 15 members of the Security Council, was established on September 28, 2001, in the wake of the 9/11 terror attacks in the U.S. India is a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council and its two-year term comes to an end on December 31, 2022.
