A photo of a city on flames is widely being shared with a claim that it shows Yugoslavia bombing of 1999.
The image is being shared with a caption that reads, “On March 24, 1999, NATO forces led by Bill Clinton began bombing Yugoslavia (Serbia). The bombing would continue for nearly 80 days and nights. Madeline Albright was Secretary of State and guaranteed that diplomatic options for peace were closed to Belgrade. As a result of this, more than 5,000 civilians died.”

NewsMobile did a fact-check and found the claim to be misleading.
On doing a Google Reverse Image Search, we found the same image was published by Getty Image with a caption that reads, “Fires burn in and around Saddam Hussein’s Council of Ministers during the first wave of attacks in the “shock and awe” phase of “Operation Iraqi Freedom” on March 21, 2003 in Baghdad, Iraq. (Photo by Mirrorpix/Getty Images).”
Independent.co.uk also published the same image with the caption that read, “The ‘shock and awe’ campaign in Iraq wreaked devastation.”
Global Times also published a report which read, “On March 24, 1999, NATO started a 78-day bombing of Yugoslavia, causing thousands of casualties including three Chinese citizens, and displacing hundreds of thousands.”
