No Entry Of Trucks In Delhi From October Due To Pollution Concerns

Date:

New Delhi: The Delhi government on Thursday prohibited trucks and other large vehicles from entering the city between the coming October and February 2023.

The government stated that the decision was taken in view of the potential for Delhi’s pollution to rise throughout the upcoming winter.

In the national capital, the entry of such vehicles—from trucks to mini tempos – is usually prohibited for only 15 to 20 days in either November or December.

Commercial vehicles powered by CNG, e-trucks, all trucks transporting necessities like vegetables, fruits, grains, eggs, ice, milk, and other food items, as well as tankers transporting petroleum products, would all be permitted entry into the city.

Most trucks run on diesel, a known air pollutant.

The decision has been opposed by truckers and commercial vehicle associations, who claim that individuals who deal with large vehicles will suffer losses worth crores.
