Dubai-Bound SpiceJet Flight Makes Emergency Landing In Karachi Due To Technical Fault; Passengers Safe

Date:

A SpiceJet flight en route to Dubai from Delhi had to make an emergency landing at the Karachi airport in Pakistan on Tuesday after developing a technical fault.

“SpiceJet B737 aircraft operating flight SG-11 (Delhi-Dubai) was diverted to Karachi due to an indicator light malfunctioning. The aircraft landed safely in Karachi and passengers were safely disembarked,” said the SpiceJet Spokesperson.

The spokesperson further stated that no emergency was declared and the aircraft made a normal landing at the Karachi airport.

“There was no earlier report of any malfunction with the aircraft. Passengers have been served refreshments. A replacement aircraft is being sent to Karachi that will take the passengers to Dubai,” the SpiceJet spokesperson added.

Meanwhile, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has said that the crew observed unusual fuel quantity reduction from the left tank and carried out relevant non-normal checklist, however, fuel quantity kept decreasing. “Aircraft diverted to Karachi in coordination with ATC. During the post-flight inspection, no visual leak was observed from the left main tank,” it added.

More than 150 passengers were onboard the SpiceJet flight when it made the emergency landing.
