Fact Check: Viral Video Showing the Tapping Exercise Is NOT from Tata Memorial Hospital

Date:

A video has gone viral on social media showing a woman performing tapping exercises and advising the benefits of the same. The caption claims that it is from the Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai in India.

In the 2.40 minutes video, we can see the woman talk about and show how to perform tapping exercises while claiming that it has multiple benefits like blood circulation, reducing memory problems, and headaches, etc.

The video is being shared on Facebook with a caption: “Tata Memorial Hospital. Request everyone to watch above video without deleting. This is not a normal forward. It is something very important. Request to spread it in your other groups”

Here’s the link to the above post.

FACT CHECK

When NewsMobile fact-checked the above claim, it was found to be MISLEADING.

Running a Reverse Image Search on a video keyframe, we traced a Facebook page  The Perfect Health Hyderabad having the same viral video uploaded on April 2, 2021, with a caption: “Acupressure Garba for fitness. Science explained”.

Searching through the web for “The Perfect Health Hyderabad”, we found a website stating that it is an alternative and holistic health service based in Hyderabad. The clinic’s website states that consultant Manisha is a dietician from Hyderabad, who started the clinic in 1995.

According to the address provided on the website, this organisation is based in Hyderabad. But the website has not mentioned anything related to “Tata Memorial Hospital”.

We also found a video on the YouTube channel of the organisation, where the woman in the viral video can be spotted.

The description of the video reads: “We are an acupressure-based clinic in Hyderabad. We teach people simple and easy-to-do techniques so that they can cure ailments at their homes. Our motto is “CURE YOURSELF”.

Also, we did not find any such video shared by Tata Memorial Hospital advising people to watch the viral clip.

Thus, it is clear that the viral video is NOT from Tata Memorial Hospital in Mumbai, but from an acupressure clinic based in Hyderabad.
