2.46 Lakh Candidates Recruited By UPSC, SSC In Last Five Years: Jitendra Singh To Rajya Sabha

New Delhi: Union Minister Jitendra Singh while speaking in the Rajya Sabha said that a total of 2,46,914 candidates have been recruited by the Union Public Services Commission (UPSC) and Staff Selection Commission (SSC) in the last five years.

Union Minister Jitendra Singh while answering to the Upper House said that vacancies are advertised based on the requirements given by different ministries and departments each year.

He further pointed out that in few cases “Minor variations may occur and the number of candidates nominated may be slightly lower than the number of vacancies reported due to non-availability of candidates fulfilling specific eligibility criteria, laid down in the notice of the examination.”

He added that the process of filling of vacancies is a continuous process and is based on the requirements of various ministries and departments of the Central Government.

He further claimed that “Government has already issued instructions to all ministries and departments for timely action to fill up the unfilled posts,”.
