Centre Plans To Ban Sale Of Loose Cigarettes Across Country: Reports

New Delhi: In a major step, the centre plans to implement a ban on selling loose or single cigarettes across the country.

According to reports, the ban is likely to be implemented ahead of the upcoming Union Budget 2023-24 which will be presented in the parliament by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sithraman.

Several media reports added that the Standing Committee of Parliament has laid down the recommendation to impose a ban on the sale of loose or single cigarettes.

The government is further planning to shut all the smoking zones available at the airports in a bid to curb the sale of tobacco across the country.
