FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the video, and found it to be misleading.
There was not even a single media report to corroborate the viral claim.
Going through the video closely, we found that PM Modi was talking about Coronavirus and Janta curfew. Running a keyword search based on PM Modi’s speech in the video, we found the entire speech on the YouTube channel of The Economic Times, uploaded on March 19, 2020, with a title: Full Speech: PM Modi addresses nation on coronavirus pandemic.
The description reads: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday (March 19, 2020) appealed to the citizens to follow “Janta curfew” on March 22 (2020) in view of Coronavirus outbreak. He requested the senior citizens to remain indoors for next few weeks. He also announced setting up of a ‘Covid-19 Economic Response Task Force’ to decide on relief package for sectors hit by the Coronavirus outbreak. The PM urged people to prevent themselves from panic-buying and hoarding of essential goods. The total number of positive cases of Covid-19 in India stands at 167, including 25 foreigners. Four deaths have been reported from Delhi, Karnataka, Punjab and Maharashtra.
Earlier, NewsMobile debunked the same video when it was shared as a recent announcement of the Janta Curfew and PM Modi announcing ₹15 lakh for every Indian citizen.
