New Delhi: The Delhi Police detained people from Nigeria for overstaying illegally in the country.
A mob of around 100 people of African origin gathered and surrounded the police team in the Neb Sarai area of South Delhi, to clash with the officers.
According to media reports, the Nigerian nationals were detained allegedly for overstaying after their visa expired.
The narcotics cell of Delhi Police raided the Raju Park area of Neb Sarai for carrying out the deportation proceedings of these nationals. The mob gathered around the police, trying to stop them from carrying out the operations.
The report further added that two of the nationals managed to escape the police amid chaos but the police managed to catch one of them.
Four hours later, around 6.30 pm, a joint team of the Narcotics squad and Neb Sarai Police Station again reached Raju Park in search of the overstaying foreign nationals and detained four African nationals including one woman.
