Sultanpuri Hit & Drag Case: MoHA Suggests Disciplinary Action Against Three PCRs, Officers, Top Updates

New Delhi: In a major development, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) received a detailed report of the Kanjhawala hit-and-drag case on Thursday.

Earlier, 20-year-old Anjali Singh, who was riding a scooter, was found dead on the street, after being allegedly hit and dragged by a car driven by five youths in Outer Delhi’s Kanjhawala area.

  • MoHA has suggested the Police Commissioner to suspend the police personnel deployed in three PCRs and at two police pickets, and take disciplinary action against them.
  • The ministry has further suggested the Delhi Police Commissioner to issue a show cause notice against the investigation officer, considering the lack of investigation.
  • The MHA has also suggested that the police file a chargesheet against the culprits in the court at the earliest and take all necessary steps so that they should be punished.
  • The court observed that the case is in the initial stage of the investigation.
  • The court further added that the investigation agencies have pointed out that Ashutosh’s live location and timeline are yet to be established.
  • According to reports, Ashutosh was arrested by the Delhi Police on January 6 for allegedly harboring the accused and misleading the investigation.
  • Earlier, a team of experts from the National Forensics Science University (NFSU) in Gujarat’s Gandhinagar on Thursday visited the national capital’s Sultanpuri.
  • According to the police, the forensic experts visited the crime spot on the request of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Outer Delhi, Harendra K Singh.
  • Delhi Police scanned through footage of more than 300 CCTVs from the Kanjhawala and Sultanpuri areas to establish the sequence of events in the case.
