Fact Check: Old Picture of SRK in a Train Viral with False Claim

Date:

Following the release of the much-awaited movie Pathaan, a picture of Shah Rukh Khan in a train has surfaced on Internet, claiming that he is travelling to Pakistan after the failure of the movie. SRK had to sell off his cars and a private jet to pay for the losses of Pathaan.

(English translation: After Pathaan flopped, SRK sold his cars like Rolls-Royce and Bugatti. After paying for a film made on loan, he could only save enough to travel in the three-tier coach of the train to Pakistan..)

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the above post, and found it to be misleading.

On putting the picture through Reverse Image Search, we found the same picture in The Times of India article, dated January 16, 2020. According to the article, the picture was taken during the promotion of SRK’s 2017 movie Raees, when he took a train ride from Mumbai to Delhi. Reports of SRK taking the train during Raees promotion can be seen here, here and here.

Smashing box office records, Pathaan has reportedly raked in around the ₹100-crore mark globally on first day. It has become the highest-grossing Hindi movie on first day in history

So, we can conclusively say that the old picture of SRK has been shared with a false claim.
