The film was in the shadow of a lot of controversies due to its song Beshram Rang which received protests from every corner of the country. Against this backdrop, an image showing a thrashed body of a man is widely shared on social media claiming that some people lashed a man who went to see Pathaan.
The image is shared on Facebook with a caption: “चेतावनी चेतावनी अगर आप पठान फिल्म देखने जा रहे हो तो अपने रिस्क पर जाएं कल यह भाई पहला दिन पहला शो देख कर आया है”

Doing a Reverse Image Search, we found a news report published by Dainik Bhaskar, dated July 12, 2022, with a title: “9-year-old son lost 50 thousand in an online game in Indore; Father vandalised the tenant student.” According to the report, on the complaint of the victim, the police had registered a case against the accused Nadeem, Adil, Saddam, and Nazim. The victim told police that for the last one-and-a-half years, he was studying at Nazim’s place by staying with his sister in a rented house. On July 9, accused Nazim Khan and neighbour Adil Khan both took the victim with them from Activa to Naita Mudla to someone’s house. He locked the room from the inside. Later, Nazim caught hold of my throat and all three tied his hands and legs, threw him upside down and beat him. The accused had also snatched the ATM card of the victim.
The same incident was reported by several other media outlets like Times Now, ETV Bharat and Live Hindustan in July 2022.
We also found a video related to the viral claim uploaded on a YouTube channel Abhay News. The video has been shared on July 12, 2022. The viral image in the video as well as several other videos of the incident carry the same information.
Thus, it is evident that an old image is falsely shared as a man thrashed while watching Pathaan.
