Arrested AAP Ministers Manish Sisodia, Satyendar Jain Quit Delhi Cabinet; Kejriwal Accepts Resignation

Date:

New Delhi: Jailed AAP ministers Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain quit the Delhi Cabinet on Tuesday. Delhi Chief Ministers Arvind Kejriwal has accepted their resignations.

Earlier, Supreme Court on Tuesday refused to entertain Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia’s plea against his arrest by CBI, as suggested, AAP will move to Delhi High Court.

Sources said the portfolios of former Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain were likely to be given to Delhi Cabinet ministers Kailash Gahlot and Raaj Kumar Anand. No new minister would be sworn in as of now, they added.

Kailash Gahlot has been given Finance, Planning, Public works dept, Power, Home, Urban Development, Irrigation & flood Control and Water departments, while, Raaj Kumar Annad has been given Education, Land & Building, Vigilance, Services, Tourism, Art Culture & Language, Labour, Employment, Health and Industries portfolios.

On Monday, Sisodia was produced before a local court in the now-scrapped Delhi excise policy case in connection to irregularities and money laundering. He was sent to CBI custody till March 4.
