Fact Check: Truth Behind This Viral Post’s Claim That PM Modi Is Playing Cricket

Recently, a video of a man playing cricket has gone viral on social media platforms with a claim that the man is Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

A Facebook user shared the video with a caption: “దేశాన్ని ముందుకు తీసుకెళ్లడంలోనే కాదు క్రికెట్ మైదానం లో కూడా కుడి, ఎడమ అని తేడా లేకుండా మోడీ గారు మంచి ఫుట్ వర్క్ చేస్తూ బ్యాట్ తో కొట్టిన షాట్లను చుస్తే మీకే అర్థమవుతుంది.” (English translations: Not only in taking the country forward but also on the cricket field, if you see the good footwork done by Modi guru and the shots taken with the bat, you will understand.)

NewsMobile fact-checked the viral video, and found it to be misleading.

Performing a Reverse Image Search, we found the viral video uploaded on Instagram. In the comments, many people have pointed out that the man in the video is former cricketer and Yuvraj Singh’s father Yograj Singh.

We then checked Yograj Singh‘s Instagram account and found the video shared by him on March 14, 2022.

Yograj has shared several other videos of him playing cricket on his Instagram page.

Therefore, it is confirmed that the viral video is shared with a false claim.
