Bengaluru: Mumbai Indians continue the horrific streak of losing the opening match for 11 consecutive seasons as they were defeated by RCB on Sunday.
The question of Jasprit Bumrah not being part of the playing XI remains a major issue for the MI bowling department.
Rohit Sharma in the post-match presentation highlighted the issue with the bowling department as he agreed to be “used to playing without Bumrah for six to eight months.”
While responding to the Bumrah question, Rohit Sharma said “From the last six to eight months I am used to playing without Jasprit Bumrah. Of course, this is a different setup but someone needs to put their hand up and step up.”
In a subtle warning to his bowling unit, Sharma added that “We can’t keep dwelling on it. Injuries are not in our control, we can’t do much about it. The other guys in the setup are quite talented as well,”.
Reflecting on the result and performance of his side, Rohit Sharma said “Didn’t have a great start with the bat in the first six overs. But, it was a really good effort from Tilak (MI batter Tilak Verma) and a few other batters. But, we didn’t execute well with the ball. It was a good pitch to bat on,”.
MI after losing in the first match will look for a win in their second match with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Saturday at the home venue of Wankhede Stadium.
