Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Police on Monday constituted a three-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe into the murder of Atiq Ahmed and Ashraf in police custody on Saturday night.
According to the reports, the SIT will be headed by the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Satish Chandra. Other members of the SIT include Satendra Prasad Tiwari, Assistant Commissioner of Police, and Om Prakash, Investigation Cell of Crime Branch, Prayagraj Police.
The SIT has been ordered to “complete the investigation in a quality and time-bound manner in a scientific manner as mentioned above,” according to a statement by the Office of the Commissioner of Police, Prayagraj.
An official source added that “All three shooters — Arun Maurya, Sunny Singh and Lovelesh Tiwari — are under threat of attack behind bars. So, they have been shifted to a high-security cell of Naini (Prayagraj) Central Jail.” Earlier, the three shooters had been sent to 14-day judicial custody by the district court.
