Running a Reverse Image Search of the viral image, our team traced a Youtube video, dated August 8, 2017, published on an unverified channel. The keyframe at 00:08 matches the viral picture and as per the description of the video, the incident happened in Goias, Brazil, when a robber was shot dead by three policemen whom he was trying to rob in a grocery store.
Conducting a Google Keyword Search, we found a news report titled: Brasil: Ladrón es ultimado al intentar asaltar una farmacia llena de policías (English: Brazil: Thief is killed when trying to rob a pharmacy full of police), published on June 2, 2017, on El Heraldo — a Columbian newspaper.
The news report corroborates the claims made by the YouTube video and further informs that the robber was just 17 years old and the incident took place in a pharmacy store in Itumbiara, Goias. A similar article was also published in G1 Globo — a Brazilian new portal.
Therefore, we can conclusively say that the viral post, claiming a robber was shot dead by customers at a convenience store in Texas, is false.
