FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the above claim, and found it to be MISLEADING.
NewsMobile observed that the video appeared to be staged, taking into account the response of the traffic police officer nearby and the fact that the incident occurred on a busy street without any intervention from pedestrians.
We performed a keyword search, but could not find any credible news article corroborating the viral claim.
During a review of the comments on the post, a user highlighted that the video was captured during the filming of a scene from a Bhojpuri film “Hum Hai Rowdy SP Vijay” released in 2022. We can see a scene depicting a kidnapping starting at the 08:33 mark, which bears resemblance to the viral video depicting a reporter being kidnapped.
Conducting further research, we found that the film was directed by Dimapur-based actor and filmmaker Munna Yadav. The film, released by Yashi Films on August 28, 2022, was partially shot in Dimapur and featured several local artists.
Comparing the screenshots from the viral video and the film, particularly focusing on the attire of the reporter, the microphone, the cameraman, the Maruti Omni van, and the car behind it, it becomes evident that the viral clip is from the production of the Bhojpuri film.
Thus, it is evident from the above information that visuals from a Bhojpuri film are shared as a reported kidnapped in Nagaland.
