Haryana Violence: State Home Minister Anil Vij Appeals For Peace In State | Top Updates

Gurugram: Haryana witnessed communal clashes in several regions of the state after two groups clashed in Nuh district on Monday during a religious procession. The violence in the state resulted in the tragic loss of six lives, including two police home guards and four civilians, and left many others injured.

  • Gurugram Deputy Commissioner Nishant Kumar Yadav announced the reopening of all educational institutions in Gurugram, including Sub Division Sohna, on August 3.
  • Kumar also assured that the district is back to normal, with sufficient police and paramilitary forces to ensure safety.
  • Haryana CM ML Khattar, in a press briefing sharing details about casualties and arrests, said, “Six people killed, 116 arrested, 90 detained since Monday’s clashes. Those found responsible will not be spared. Four more companies of central forces have been sought on Wednesday.”
  • CM Khattar, while briefing about the situation, said, “30 companies of the Haryana Police have been deployed for this purpose. Additionally, 20 companies of paramilitary forces. 14 teams of the paramilitary forces have been deployed in Nuh district, 3 companies deployed in Palwal, 2 companies in Gurugram, 1 company in Faridabad.”
  • Talking to the media, Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij urged everyone in the state to restore peace.
  • “This is the time to restore peace… I want to urge everyone to restore peace,” Vij said.
  • Talking about the role of social media in the Nuh incident, Vij said, “Social media has played an important role in the Nuh incident, therefore, I’ve constituted a three-member committee. The committee will scan every social media platform (for posts) from 21st July to 31st July. If anyone has posted anything provocative, action will be taken against them as per law.”
  • An alert has been sounded in several districts of Uttar Pradesh along the Haryana-UP border, including Saharanpur, Shamli, and Muzaffarnagar. Officials have been deployed to maintain the situation.

  • The Supreme Court directed the authorities to ensure that no hate speech against any community and no violence or damage to any properties should take place in any protest rallies being organised in the national capital.

Members of the Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) staged protests in several parts of the national capital on Wednesday against the violence that broke out in the Nuh district of neighbouring Haryana.
  • Superintendent of Police (SP), Nuh Varun Singla, said Wednesday in a media briefing that all the individuals allegedly involved in the violence have been arrested following an investigation.
  • Talking about the violence in the state, CM Khattar said in a tweet, “I will not allow the peace and communal harmony of the state to deteriorate at any cost. Every single culprit of the Nuh incident will be brought to their end through the law. And every damage done there will be compensated by the rioters and it will also be recovered from them.”
