An image of a car has gone viral on social media, claiming that an American company has named its newly launched car ‘Ram’ after Lord Ram’s name.
A Twitter user has shared this image with a caption: “USA ने New गाड़ी लॉन्च की है जिसके Brand का नाम RAM है। कट्टर हिंदू होगा वही फॉलो करेगा.” [English translation: USA has launched a new car with a brand name RAM. The one who is a real Hindu will follow this page.]

NewsMobile fact-checked the above claim, and found it to be false.
With a keyword search, the NM team identified a website Miracle which describes a brief history of the RAM cars.
According to Miracle, the company which manufactures these cars is RAM (can be pronounced as R-A-I-M). It’s an old company which manufactured cars in collaboration with Dodge company from 1981-1993. In 1981, the company decided that its car logo would be a Ram’s (Male Sheep) head.
As per the website, the logo of this company is based on the male sheep. There is no mention of Lord Ram anywhere. Below you can see an example of Ram trucks on their offical website.
Since 1933, Dodge has prominently featured the distinctive Ram’s head logo on its automobiles which lasted until 1950, as mentioned in a report of Auto Influence article, dated August 19, 2015. This logo, chosen for its symbolic representation of robustness and durability, has graced vehicles predominantly tailored for people working in agricultural fields and oil sites. That’s why, Ram’s head design was used as a logo to symbolise strength in the rugged construction of the vehicles.
Dodge and Ram declared their separation in October 2009. Following the split, RAM created its own brand identity and logo (seen in the viral image). Below one can see the comparison between Ram’s logo and the cars logo.
Thus, it is clear from the above finding that the RAM cars are not a newly launched brand, and it has nothing to do with Lord Ram.
