Nagpur: At least 4 people died and 400 people were relocated to safer areas after torrential rain and cloudburst caused havoc in Nagpur. This sudden rainfall forced the resident to flee from their home.
Due to the heavy rains, a flood triggered in Nagpur on Saturday and the entire city was submerged under water. According to reports from the news agency PTI, floodwater gushed into at least 10,000 homes in the city, leaving residents navigating through knee-deep waterlogged streets.

Among the casualties was a 53-year-old woman, Sandhya Dhore, who drowned in her room. Flood water entered the house of Sandhya and her mother Sayabai Dhore (72) in Surendragadh. Relatives managed to rescue Sayabai, but Sandhya remained trapped in her bed, she could not move from her bed.
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday, visited the affected area where he met with flood-affected residents. However, he faced backlash and was cornered by angry citizens. Fadnavis visited the west and southwest localities near Ambazari Lake.
A day earlier, the weather department had issued an orange alert for the district, indicating heavy rainfall for the next 24 hours. Both the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) continued their efforts to rescue individuals stranded in low-lying areas. Fadnavis had previously stated that an Army team was on standby, prepared to respond to any emergency.

The government announced that compensation up to Rs 5 lakh would be given to those who have sustained damages to their shops, and Rs 10,000 to those who run tapris (small roadside establishments).
